Henri Privat-Livemont was an honorary master at the Schaerbeek School of Applied Art. He worked in Paris for six years. Amongst his decorative work, mention should be made of the Communal Theatre in Ostend and the ceilings of the gaming room and rotundas of the Ostend Kursaal.
Privat-Livemont was an excellent painter of pastels and an undisputed master of the picture poster and print, as attested to by his poster for the Brussels Universal Exhibition of 1905. His coloured lithographs are justifiably famous. He tried his hand at the most diverse of genres, often introducing humour into his work.
